understandable, its perfectly reasonable to question his decisions in close games. I just think you need a better example then sticking w/ the starter when they have a 5 run lead.

Thanks for the reply, I'm glad you enjoy it. The reason I have so little faith in Charlie in the playoffs is that he didn't change his style last year compared to the regular season. I agree that he did nothing wrong in this game, my point was that this is the only way he knows how to manage.

While it doesn't kill him in July, it inevitably will cost them games in the playoffs. I think there is a general consensus that he will not "outmanage" anyone in this league.

Maybe I am putting more responsibility on him than he deserves, but surely managing has some effect on the outcome of close games. All I'm saying is I don't trust his judgment when it really matters.

Really enjoy the blog. I dont think its fair to assume charlie would make the same decision in a one-run game as a 5-run game. Though I agree with you that when i was watching that game I knew more likely then not kendrick wouldnt make it through the 8th, but In a 5 run game in July, you gotta run your starter out there again and keep the mileage off that bullpen. If he does the same thing in a one run game in October I'll be right there with you to kill him, but I really had no problem with it given the situation.
