#23 gets 5 years

Louis Williams has earned himself an average of $5 million/year over the next 5 years in a new contract. With this deal done, Ed Stanfanski will be focusing on getting Iguodala’s deal done before the new season.
Williams wants to start, but both Andre’s will most likely be filling up the guard spots come November. Most likely, he will remain the 6th man and keep his 25 minutes/game from last year. But with a new post presence in Brand, the production of those minutes is likely to increase. Unless something happens with trading Miller (or an injury) during the season, Williams is not likely to compete for the starting point guard spot until next year.
I believe he is the right kind of player to bring off the bench to give the offense a spark. He brings a lot of energy and a scorer’s mentality, which will benefit the Sixers this season. His height could be a problem in the future if he does end up starting at either guard, because he will have to defend much taller players at around 6′4″-6′6″. But right now Williams is happy to have the deal done and is ready for the upcoming season.
