Another AWESOME Philly Sports blog is Phinally Philly. They are constantly rolling out great articles on everything going on in Philly Sports. I’m following them on Twitter (@Phinally) and recently responded to them asking for questions. My question was, “Which Phillies starter will win the most games this year?”.
Here is their response to my question. They picked Hamels – here’s my comment on their site:
Thanks for answering my question, that’s awesome! My pick is Brett Myers, mostly because we NEED him to be consistent and hopefully he won’t get sent down to the minors this year if he can keep his head on straight!! Not Hamels just because of injury questions, although he would be my second pick assuming he gets and stays healthy. I also have questions about Moyer’s age, but I think the main reason he won so many games last year was great run support. Blanton should fit in nicely in the 4th spot, and who knows if Park will even remain the 5th starter all year? I’d love to see Happ back in that role at some point. Here’s my breakdown (completely random guess):
Wins by starters:
Myers: 16
Hamels: 14
Blanton: 11
Moyer: 10
Park: 7And hey if you want another question, How likely is it that Lidge will be perfect again this year? Looks good so far.
Make sure you leave a comment and let them know what you think about your team!

I loved the question you submitted. It was loaded, but it’s a good discussion question.
I’ve put the other question about Lidge into my notes to write about as well. I’ll probably put it up at sometime next week.
Be sure to check out the website and Twitter to find out when the article goes up.
I like the site. Thanks for the link.

Obviously, there is no way to know what the outcome of the season will be, let alone which pitcher will have the most wins. I liked your answer though, and have been reading all the responses – I was hoping it would spark a conversation.
All any of us really care about is that they play well enough to get back to the playoffs, so they can make another run!! At least we have a lot to be hopeful about with this team, and since they are young I really feel like they can be competitive for awhile.
With our pitching staff, I have no idea how they’re going to shake out. The numbers could be anywhere at the end of the season.
This team is always going to be dangerous with the lineup they trot out there on a daily basis. That offense will keep them in games they have no business winning.
They will always be dangerous in the playoffs as long as the pitching holds together and the core is still relatively young, with some good young players in the minors, so they should be able to compete at a high level for at least a a few years.
