4 Reasons why the Eagles will NOT trade for Boldin
- Draft Picks – The Cards are asking a steep price for any player to be traded in the NFL. A first and third rounder, really? They will probably be willing to negotiate if a team is very interested, but the Eagles usually aren’t that friendly with that sort of thing.
- The Future – Trading away draft picks is a move of desperation. You have to be willing to go “all in” this season, mortgaging your future for a chance at greatness. The Eagles want to be good for a long time, and use their draft picks for their needs of the future. Very rarely do they get lucky (see B.Westbrook – 3rd round, and D. Jackson more recently).
- Money – You know how the saying goes. Fool me once, shame on you. They got burned once before going after a big name receiver, and while it almos helped them win a Super Bowl, it came back to haunt them. Whoever you want to blame, the Eagles learned their lesson and are unlikely to give Boldin the inevitably-requested “new contract” after 1 good season.
- Chemistry – A big name receiver once came to this town and singlehandedly broke the team in half. It took 4 seasons for this team to get back to being competitive and nearly reached the Super Bowl. Andy has learned his lesson and will not bring in a guy who could steal the spotlight from McNabb.

Anyone have a good argument why they should or will try to trade for him? And I don’t mean call in some crappy offer so they can say they “tried”, I mean really make an effort, and if he goes to another team who gave up too much, there’s nothing the Eagles could have done.
